Palo Santo

Palo Santo, literally "holy wood", comes from the Bursera graveolens, a tree native to the dry forests of South America. The wood is only used after a tree has died naturally and rested for years: during that time it develops its characteristic resins and its warm, sweet scent with notes of citrus, mint and pine. For centuries, people in the Andes and along the coast of Peru and Ecuador have burned Palo Santo to drive away negative energy, purify a space and calm the mind.
