The stone forms during low to medium grade metamorphism of calcium rich rock and usually sits in veins and fracture fillings that run straight through the surrounding rock, often together with white Calcite and Quartz. Loose crystals are rare, since Thulite almost always occurs in massive form. With a hardness of 6 to 6.5 she is sturdy enough for jewelry, but more prone to scratching than Rock Crystal.

A suspiciously low price for a stone that comes mainly from Norway is reason to be critical.
