Real gemstones, minerals and crystals, transparency comes first
At Kristalmeester, everything revolves around authenticity. We consciously choose high-quality, natural gemstones, minerals and crystals, and we understand better than anyone how important it is to know what you are buying. Even we have made the occasional wrong purchase in the past, because distinguishing treated or synthetic stones from genuine ones can be a challenge even for experts. Honesty and transparency are therefore core values at Kristalmeester.
Although our range focuses primarily on authentic gemstones, we also offer a limited selection of man-made and treated stones. Some of these creations are said to carry special properties but you deserve to always know exactly what you have in your hands.
Man-made gemstones
Man-made gemstones are created by people rather than formed by nature. A well-known and popular example is Opalite, which is made from glass and has a beautiful milky, luminous effect.
Synthetic stones are mostly produced in a laboratory. They sometimes share the chemical composition of their natural counterpart, but often contain added elements as well. These stones are frequently recognisable by their striking colour palette or an almost "too perfect" appearance. However, distinguishing them from genuine gemstones with the naked eye is not always possible, further examination is then required.
Treated gemstones
Treated gemstones are originally natural stones that have undergone an additional process. A good example are the popular Aura stones: these typically have a base of Clear Quartz, which is heated in a vacuum and then coated with gold, silver, titanium, niobium or other metal oxides. This process gives the stones their characteristic iridescent shine.
Another widely used technique is heating stones at specific temperatures to influence their colour. Citrine quartz, for example, is essentially a heated Amethyst, recognisable by the strong contrasts between yellow, gold and white Clear Quartz. Natural Citrine is rarer and more valuable, with a clear, light yellow to smoky hue.
